HEARTSAVER® FIRST AID

This course teaches students critical skills to respond to and manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students learn duties and responsibilities of first aid rescuers including severe choking, heart attack and stroke, external bleeding, broken bones and sprains, bites and stings, etc.  While this class is essential and often required for many people, it does not include CPR+AED and Bloodborne Pathogen training.  If you prefer or require the CPR+AED portion then skip ahead to our HEARTSAVER® FIRST AID CPR AED Class.  Bloodborne Pathogen training is an add-on for ONSITE HEARTSAVER® FIRST AID CPR AED Classes (Schedule an onsite class today).

BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS) PROVIDER

While enrollment for this class is open to everyone in the public, this certification in particular is required for anyone in a healthcare profession.  It is an advanced version of our CPR AED training.  Content for this class includes high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, The AHA Chain of Survival, specifically the BLS components, the use of an AED, effective ventilations using a barrier device, importance of teams in multi-rescuer resuscitation and performance as an effective team member during multi-rescuer CPR, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for adults and infants. A physical skills check and written test are administered during the course.

PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)

Just as the class name states, this certification is required for anyone who does advanced life support for pediatric patients.  Course content includes: High-quality child CPR AED and infant CPR, recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention, recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds, application of team dynamics, differentiation between respiratory distress and failure, early interventions for respiratory distress and failure, differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock, early interventions for the treatment of shock, differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias, clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias, post–cardiac arrest management, etc.

ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)

ACLS is recommended for all healthcare professionals and medical personnel who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency as part of a team involved in the administration of cardiac drugs.  Course content includes: Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED, recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest, recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia, airway management, related pharmacology, management of ACS and stroke, effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team, etc.

ONLINE BLENDED CLASSES

ALL of our classes are conveniently available to take online to fit your schedule.  Some online class options do not fulfill your certification needs because they do not provide the required skill session, which is in-person.  However, as long as you complete the in-person skill session then your Online Blended certification is as good as a full length classroom course.  Once you complete the online portion, bring your certificate to one of our training sites to attend an in-person skill session allowing for practice and skills verification.  Then you’ll receive your certification card – the same day!
